Ingredients for 5 Liters of Tropical IPA Beer

Procedure: How to Make Tropical IPA Beer

1. Wort Preparation

  1. Heat the water in a large pot to 50°C.
  2. Place the malt and barley flakes inside a cheesecloth (to facilitate filtration) and immerse them in the water.
  3. Raise the temperature to 65°C, turn off the heat, cover, and let it steep for 60 minutes (monostep mash).
  4. After one hour, raise the temperature to 77°C, turn off the heat, and let it rest for another 10 minutes (mash out).

2. Filtration and Boiling

  1. Remove the grain bag and let it drain in a colander to recover the residual wort.
  2. Bring the wort to a boil and add the Styrian Dana hops in an infusion bag.
  3. During boiling, add the tropical fruit: pineapple, mango, lime, and passion fruit.
  4. After 60 minutes, turn off the heat and stir well to dissolve the sugar completely.

3. Beer Fermentation

  1. Cool the wort as quickly as possible to room temperature.
  2. Filter the wort into the fermenter and add the brewing yeast.
  3. Insert the hop bag again to enhance the aromatic profile.
  4. Seal the fermenter and let it ferment for 7 days at about 21°C.

4. Bottling and Maturation

  1. After 7 days, check the final gravity: it should be around 1.000.
  2. Bottle, adding 10 g of sugar per liter for refermentation.
  3. Store the bottles at room temperature for 2 weeks.
  4. After maturation, move the bottles to the fridge or cellar and wait at least 2 months for the best beer aroma.

Final Result and Tasting

After two weeks, your homemade Tropical IPA beer will be ready to enjoy! The foam may not be very persistent, but the aromatic profile will be fruity and slightly bitter, with tropical notes reminiscent of a mix between beer and exotic wine.

Perfect to pair with fresh appetizers, cheeses, and light dishes! 🍺
