Chocolate Plum Cake with Figs and Rosemary

At the request of my wife, who greatly appreciated this chocolate plum cake with figs baked by a friend at a dinner party, I decided to replicate this recipe. I must preface by giving all credit to Lucake, to whom I sought prior authorization to execute the recipe ☺️. The flavor is definitely intriguing, and I invite you to give it a try. Here are the ingredients and recipe below.

INGREDIENTS

MILK 200 ml
FLOUR 200 g
SUGAR 180 g
BUTTER 50 g
DARK COCOA 40 g
YEAST 15 g
EGGS 3
FIGS 8/10
ROSEMARY 2 sprigs
SALT 1 pinch

INSTRUCTIONS

In a bowl, prepare the flour by adding cocoa and yeast so that the dry ingredients are ready to use when needed. In a saucepan or milk warmer, heat 100 ml of milk with the butter and 2 sprigs of rosemary over low heat. When the butter has melted and the milk is warm, turn off the heat and let the rosemary infuse.

Meanwhile, using an electric mixer, beat the eggs with the sugar in a bowl. Once done, add the other 100 ml of milk to the milk previously warmed with the rosemary so that the mixture reaches room temperature. Gradually pour it into the eggs and sugar, continuing to beat with the electric mixer.

Add the dry ingredients prepared earlier by sifting them with a sieve, and gently fold the ingredients together from bottom to top with a spatula until you obtain a creamy mixture. We don’t want to find flour lumps when slicing our chocolate plum cake with figs.

Take a plum cake tin, grease it, and dust it with flour. Pour half of the mixture into the tin and arrange the figs, peeled and halved, on top. Pour the other half of the mixture and finish by placing the remaining figs on top.

Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 35-40 minutes.

Dust with powdered sugar, and your chocolate plum cake with figs is ready to be enjoyed.
