ARABIC BREAD easy recipe

Arabic bread is a typical bread in Middle Eastern cuisine. It is commonly used for kebabs, either filled or rolled.

It is made with few ingredients, is very tasty, and is really easy to prepare. Let’s say if we realize we don’t have any bread at home, we can prepare this in about 30-40 minutes. It doesn’t contain yeast, which allows us to shorten the time, and it can be easily cooked in a pan.

The following recipe is for approximately 8 medium-sized Arabic bread; the only important and easy thing to remember for the proportion of ingredients is that the water is always half of the flour. Easy, right? Now let’s see how to proceed…

INGREDIENTS

FLOUR    200 g
WATER    100 ml
SALT             1 pinch
OLIVE OIL   1 tablespoon

INSTRUCTIONS

1) In a bowl, pour the water and dissolve the salt. Gradually add the flour and mix with the help of a fork. After using about half of the flour, we can add the oil and continue mixing until all the flour is used up.
Of course, when we can no longer rely on the fork because the consistency is too thick, we’ll use our hands until we get a smooth dough that completely and easily doesn’t stick to the bowl.

2) Cover and let it rest for about 20-30 minutes.

3) Divide the dough into 6/8 small balls, which we’ll flatten with our hands on a floured surface or on the worktop, and then with a rolling pin.

4) Cook for about a minute on each side on the hot pan. The Arabic bread will puff up and then deflate. We can decide to use it as a pocket and fill it according to our preference.

It’s perfect for homemade Chicken kebab 😉
